| There is 2 types of Spray Foam Insulation: 1.) Closed Cell 2.) Open Cell 1.) Closed Cell Foam has a R-7 per inch rating. 2.) Open Cell Foam has a R-3.5 per inch rating. * Traditional insulations are only a R-3.5 per inch. 1.) Closed Cell Foam is impervious to water. 2.) Open Cell Foam is not and therefore can absorb water. 1.) Closed Cell Foam is best suited for insulating just about anything. 2.) Open Cell Foam is best used for insulating structures that aren't kept at 70-80 degrees and for sound proofing interior walls and floors. Insulations today are rated by their (R) factor rating which doesn't tell the whole story. BTU loss is the best way to rank how good an insulation is going to be. Because Spray Foam Insulation eliminates air infiltration it can out perform traditional insulations by as much as 2.5 to 1. This is how the consumer can save up to 50% on their energy costs annually!! With that kind of return every year, most customers can recover the additional cost of using Spray Foam Insulation within 3-5 years. |
